Gab Lenfesty, my collaborator, specializes mainly in bird paintings. Given our high vantage point overlooking the alley, it seemed fitting to delve into this subject. Opting for a local bird was a deliberate choice to mirror the essence of the neighborhood. In sync with the festival's ethos, we depicted both male and female cardinals. Gab skillfully painted the female cardinal, while I took on the male, symbolizing solidarity and backing for gender equality. Emphasizing the female bird in the composition was a deliberate choice, aiming to counter the prevailing trend of predominant male bird imagery and allowing the female to claim a prominent presence.
